This last Friday night marked the maiden voyage of a new series of no-pressure adult art classes offered through Woodland Park Parks and Recreation, and long story short: the people, the wine, and the art pieces were gorgeous! Everyone's art was vibrant and colorful and above all unique. I was simply glowy afterward and feeling so honored to have been this event's happy hostess, and I'm looking forward to November's upcoming Creative Chill session, which will feature mosaic work on wooden serving trays. I finally pulled the trigger and joined the Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce yesterday, so tonight I was able to attend my first “Business After Hours” shindig. The event was hosted by UCHealth Pikes Peak Regional Hospital and I met some wonderful people there! I look forward to getting connected with other local businesses in a meaningful and beneficial way.
One of my photographs has been chosen for a juried show at the Depot Art Gallery, and I am so honored to be included! So, I promised more details a while back, and here they are. This is the piece that was chosen for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center gala. It is called "Dream Home", and I used oil, ink, acrylic, and resin on 12"x12"1.5" gessoboard. I finished the edges with leather and studs, which I love so much. I'm definitely going to try this again on other pieces. The other artists included in the show gathered for a nice, sort of fancy-schmancy reception in the Hybl Experimental Space at the center.
